Malvern School District is honored to recognize Debbie Hobbs, who is one of our five National Board Certified Teachers. She is currently celebrating her 38th year in education. After dedicating fourteen years to teaching Spanish and English, Mrs. Hobbs transitioned to counseling, earning her Masters of Science in Education in Secondary School Counseling in 1999. She officially embarked on her counseling career in 2000.
Reflecting on her journey, Mrs. Hobbs shares, "Becoming a school counselor was the best career decision I ever made. I absolutely love interacting with the students one on one versus a whole classroom. It is very rewarding when I can see a change in a student's academics or attitude."
Mrs. Hobbs initiated her National Board Certification pursuit in School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood in 2004 and successfully achieved certification in 2005. Demonstrating her commitment to excellence, she renewed her certification in 2015. Speaking about the National Board process, she emphasizes, "The National Board process was exactly what I needed as a beginning school counselor. It broadened my scope of knowledge in all eleven of the National Board School Counseling Standards. I learned to work as a leader and advocate to promote student learning and achievement and how to collaborate and network with other stakeholders."
We extend our appreciation to Mrs. Hobbs for her enduring dedication to education and her impactful role in shaping the lives of students at Malvern School District!
