Malvern High School’s newest athletic addition, the Cross Country team, is making waves in its inaugural season. Under the guidance of Coach Tina Tennison, the team has shown exceptional talent and dedication, competing in several meets and consistently improving their times on challenging 3.2-mile courses.
First Meet Success at Falcon Relays
The team kicked off their season at the Falcon Relays at Maumelle Charter on September 3rd. For many of the athletes, this was their first experience with a cross country race, and they exceeded expectations with impressive performances. Here are the standout times from the meet:
• Lane Smith: 23:09
• Andersson Guevera: 29:04
• Ahtziry Camacho: 27:27
• Zamira Lopez: 33:00
• Samya Mauldin: 35:53
Each athlete completed a 5K and represented Malvern with pride, showcasing the determination and grit that defines a Leopard.
Overcoming Challenges at Minute Man Day
The team faced a tougher course on September 14th at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock during the Minute Man Day race. Despite the muddy and more difficult terrain, several team members achieved personal records (PRs), highlighting their commitment to improvement and perseverance. The results were as follows:

• Zamira Lopez PR: 32:17
• Andersson Gueverra PR: 27:09
• Lane Smith: 23:59
Cross Country joined forces with the JROTC team for this event, adding an extra layer of excitement and camaraderie to the race day experience.
Lakeside Rams Invitational Sees Record-Breaking Times
The season continued to heat up at the Lakeside Rams Invitational on September 17th, where the Leopards delivered their best performances yet. The course proved to be favorable, resulting in an astounding five personal records:

• Andersson Guevera: 25:35
• Ahtziry Camacho: 26:48
• Samya Mauldin: 29:57
• Zamira Lopez: 32:10
