Superintendent of Schools
Brian Golden has lived in the Malvern community for more than 40 years and has been employed by the Malvern School District for 18 years, where he has served as a physics teacher, football/baseball coach, and operations administrator before becoming superintendent in 2008.
He graduated from Malvern High School in 1992 and earned his bachelor's of education degree from Henderson State University in 1996. He obtained his master's degree from Henderson in 2000.
Mr. Golden is a member of the Malvern Lions Club, Malvern Chamber of Commerce, Association of Arkansas Educational Administrators, Arkansas Rural Education Association, American Association School Administrators, Board Member of the HSC Life Skills Mentoring Board, and serves on the HSC Economic Development Commission. Brian and his wife, Kristi, have two children: Drew and Lauren.
Assistant Superintendent – Support Services
Joe Cook is an assistant superintendent in charge of support services for the Malvern School District. This is his 26th year in education. He taught math and PE; coached football, basketball, track, and tennis. Joe also served as building principal before filling his present role last year.
He graduated from Magnet Cove High School in 1981. In 1986, he earned his BS in Mathematics and Physical Education from Arkansas Tech University. In 2001 he earned his MSE in Administration from Henderson State University.
Joe has been blessed with three beautiful daughters and is married to Crystal. Besides working as assistant superintendent with the district, Mr. Cook also pastors Centerview Missionary Baptist Church in the Magnet Cove community.
Assistant Superintendent for Academics and Director of Federal Programs
Janet Blair has been in education for 25 years. Her work includes teaching experience in grades four through eight in all content areas with her emphasis in Science. Janet has served as a cheerleading and gymnastics coach. Her administrative experience includes four years as K12 Curriculum Director and three years as Assistant Superintendent in the Newport School District.
She received her BSE from Arkansas State University in 1986, her MSE in 2004 and her Ed.S in 2009.
Janet is married to Allen Blair, a retired Principal and coach for 38 years. Together they have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
Director of Instructional Technology
Michael began his career in education in 1989 teaching Biology and Chemistry. He became Assistant Principal of Malvern High School in 2000 followed by Principal of MHS in 2008 before becoming Director of Instructional Technology in 2010.
He is a 1983 honor graduate of Malvern High School. He received his BS in Biology and Chemistry from Henderson State University in 1987 and worked as a chemist before receiving his BSE in 1988. He received his MSE in School Administration in 1994 followed by Superintendent certification in 2002.
Michael and his wife, Connie, have four children: Aaron, Chris, Avrieana and Devon.
Prior to joining the district in 2003, Nina had an extensive career in the insurance industry as a Certified Insurance Counselor and Underwriter.She serves as human resources and payroll coordinator for the Malvern School District.
Nina is a 1980 honor graduate of Malvern High School and attended Henderson State University.
Ms. Johnson is a member of the Arkansas Association of School Business Officials, Southeastern Association of School Business Officials, and is a Certified Arkansas School Business Official. Her daughter is also an honor graduate of Malvern High School and is pursuing a degree in education. Nina enjoys hunting, fishing, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Before coming to Malvern in August 2006, Todd was an assistant bookkeeper for the Sheridan School District.
He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1981. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas in 1986.
Mr. Jordan is a member in the Arkansas Association of School Business Officials, the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials and a Certified Arkansas School Business Official. Todd lives in Sheridan with his wife, Cindy, and their two sons, Jonathan and David. When not working, he enjoys traveling, puzzles, and video games.
Athletic, Custodial, Extra Curricular, and Transportation Secretary
Sarah Robinson is the Athletic, Custodial, Extra Curricular, and Transportation Secretary for the Malvern School District. She has been employed with Malvern School District since July 2006. Prior to Malvern she worked at Summit Bank in Operations for 5 years. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1996.
Sarah lives in Malvern with her husband, Brandon and son, Hunter. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, and being outdoors.
Receptionist, Superintendent's Secretary, Secretary to one of the Assistant Superintendents, E-Rate coordinator, and the SIS Coordinator for APSCN
Barbara Taylor was employed by Dun Bradstreet Plan Services, Tampa Florida for 12 years. Barbara has been with the district since July 1994.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from Malvern High School in 1972 and from Capital City Junior College in 1973.
Barbara lives in Malvern with her husband Paul. Both of her sons live in Malvern as well. Barbara is a volunteer member of the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Patrol. When not working, she enjoys SCUBA diving, traveling and being with her family.
Director of School Improvement/School Dropout Prevention
Terri Bryant graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in 1972. She then attended Henderson State University where she earned a BSE in 1976 and a MSE in 1979.
She has 36 years in the education field with 27 of those years in administration. Her current position at MSD is Director of School Improvement/School Dropout Prevention. Terri has worked at Malvern School District since 2000.
Terri is married to her wonderful husband Larry, and they have one dog, Ziggy. She is a proud mother of 2138 children, the K – 12 enrollment here in Malvern School District.
Coordinated School Health (CSH) Coordinator & Human Services Manager
Faye Williams is the CSH Coordinator and Human Services Manager for the Malvern School District. She is also a Love and Logic Parenting Curriculum facilitator and certified Handle With Care instructor. She joined the District in 2008 as the School-Based Mental Health Coordinator.
She graduated from Malvern High School in 1971 and later became a licensed property and casualty insurance agent. Twelve years later she switched career paths and went to work in the mental health field where she held various management positions over the next 18 years.
Faye lives in Malvern with her husband Jack, a die-hard Texas A&M fan. They have 3 sons between them, 10 grandchildren, and an Australian Labradoodle. They are very involved in their church, Ouachita River Fellowship, and its outreach food ministry “A Cup of Water”. Faye’s hobbies include spoiling her grandchildren, traveling, horseback and atv riding, and hunting.
